Ratatouille

Making my dream Halloween costume

I’ve been doing a lot of crochet, and pinning different inspirations on Pinterest. The algorithm eventually fed me a crochetted Remy the rat from Ratatouille and I wanted one. The patterns I found online weren’t doing it for me, so I designed one myself.

I made a few different attempts to get the shapes right, but I really love how it turned out.

The pattern

This might not be 100% accurate, because I didn’t write anything down as I went. You’ll be working everything in the round and sewing things together. You’ll need pink, grey, and white yarn in a chunky weight. You’ll also need stuffing, safety eyes, a tapestry needle, and little hair clips.

Skills and notations: single crochet (sc), increase (inc), decrease (dec), back loop only (BLO), magic ring,

  1. Magic ring, 6sc into the ring [6]
  2. (sc, inc) 3 times [9]
  3. 9sc [9]
  4. (2sc, inc) 3 times [12]
  5. 12sc [12]
  6. 12sc [12]
  7. 8inc, 4sc [20]
  8. ?? [32] 9-12. 32sc [32]

Attach safety eyes (I used 8mm ones) between rows 7 and 8. Stuff the mouth and head.

  2. (2sc, dec) 6 times [18]
  3. (sc, dec) 6 times [12]
